Well, as most of inspiration, the idea -or to put it right, the image itself- came to me, out of the blue.

A summer noon on a deserted beach. I had just got out of the sea (out of the blue, literally), and i walked a few meters on the burning sand. I didn’t use the towel to wipe the water off me, but instead i stood still, spread-legged with my hands on top of my head, as if i was a captive of the sun, to let the sea breeze and the warmth of the close yellow star dry me out.

Ηλιόλουστες κατηφοριές, για τη θάλασσα

Sunny descending streets to the sea

και γλυκόπικρες επιστροφές.

and bittersweet returning routes.

Τα δάχτυλά μας πλέκαμε,

We ‘ve weaved our fingers together

κάτι ‘ξορκίζαμε θαρρώ.

as if we wanted something to be dispelled.

Στα μάτια μας φυλάγαμε,

We’ ve always had enshrined,

πάντα, δυό στάλες φώς,

two drops of light in our eyes,

Και όταν θέλαμε να καούμε

And whenever we  ached to be burned

σταυρώναμε το βλέμμα.

We walked down that street. Early in the afternoon, a relatively hot post winter day. No one was around us, the city seemed abandoned. But a sweet breeze smelled like a spring of our childhood. We were walking hand by hand. We were descending to the sea. We were in love.

Later, we walked our way back, still hand by hand, on the same road. I loved you so much. It was summer in me. But although we were joking, laughing and making plans for a cosy evening at home, there was an undefinable sorrow around us during our return. Then, for a moment, we stared each other…A true moment of the very being, burnt as to the heart.

I kissed you, passionately.
